We are currently recruiting for an experienced Product Engineer located in the Chesterfield area.

Ideally, the successful Product Engineer will be educated to Degree Level, or HNC Level in a field of Engineering. The role is strongly mechanically biased but it will require some electrical knowledge as the Presses which this company produce are electrically controlled.The successful Mechanical Project Engineer will have around 5 years post qualification experience in a heavy engineering environment, and have project management experience. The role will be around 60% engineering, 40% project management.

The ideal Mechanical Project Engineer will be able to liaise with suppliers and deal with customers.

There will be the requirement for the successful Product Engineer to travel to the Middle East and other areas for 2-3 days at a time, for around 6-7 times a year. Due to this, a valid, in-date passport must be supplied from the Product Engineer.

Daily Tasks and Responsibilities of the Product Engineer include:

* Taking full responsibility for managing the delivery of the Presses from the initial customer specification, through to testing and delivery. This process normally takes about 15 weeks and the Presses cost anywhere in the region of £250,000 to £400,000.

* Liaising with customers and the Internal Project Execution Team on the product specification, including size, installation location, capacity etc.

* Managing suppliers of components including their specification, price and timescales

* Creating supplier specifications

* Agree Supplier Prices

* Ensure product development time lines are met

* Document protocols and procedures and maintain document control

* Arrange and supervise press build and proofing; on successful proofing, manage product dis assembly and shipping to customer.

This is a permanent position for the successful Product Engineer, salaried between £34,000 and £40,000 dependent upon experience.
