Established for over 100 years one of the innovators of defence and renewable energy requires a degree qualified in Electrical / Control Engineering or a relevant Apprenticeship with HNC, ideally with 5 years’ system design experience in industrial or marine applications.You should possess a sound knowledge of 1 and 3 phase AC supplies, motors and starters and DC power supplies.
Must be competent in the use of AutoCAD and MS Office.
Must be comfortable writing Technical and test specifications.
Must have experience of PLC based control system design – knowledge of software design and variable speed drives would be an advantage
Ideally will have an awareness of military environment requirements including equipment standards for Safety, EMC (Electro Magnetic Compatibility), Shock, Noise and Vibration and hazardous areas.
Previous hands-on experience of electrical system installation, setting to work, commissioning and fault-finding on site would be advantageous but not mandatory.
Design and draw complete electrical control systems for a variety of marine-based Mechanical and Hydraulic handling systems.
The systems will include Aircraft elevators and arrester gear for Aircraft Carriers, Helicopter handlers for surface ships and periscope raising equipment and hydroplane/rudder drives for submarines
