Established for over a century one of the innovators in defence and renewable energy require a bid support engineer with experience in low-volume or specialist engineering in a heavily regulated environment (eg Defence, Marine, Aerospace and rail).
You should be able to effectively communicate engineering concepts to both Technical and non-Technical audiences (eg Commercial personnel at client companies), including the production of high level engineering calculations.
Should be highly organised and able to co-ordinate their own work, and the work of others, into the overall project / bid documentation.
Should be able to work on own initiative and to understand the implications of any proposed engineering change to the overall plan.
Experience of 3D CAD modelling at a concept level would be an advantage although MacTaggart Scott have own Draughtsmen to undertake actual drafting.
Must be able to travel to customer sites, worldwide, as required.
Take responsibility for the Engineering department response to a variety of enquiries, from customers, suppliers and internal departments, and the preparation of technical proposals for tendering purposes.
Liaise with the company’s Marketing Department, to understand the engineering requirements of prospective work being bid for.
Produce concise and effective technical proposals in response to customer requests.
Co-ordinate resources to ensure that the required level and scope of engineering input is achieved.
Effectively maintain project documentation.
Attend meetings with customers, including delivering technical presentations and participating in engineering and commercial discussions.
Develop standardised documentation packs for proposal use and undertake trend analysis to assist in directing future company product development activities.
